Dear Paper Blog. . I missed you

So I am not a consultant for any company, nor do I have plans to be but I just can't deny how much I like doing projects with paper.  I was a consultant for a while with a fabulous papery-stampy company that I still love, but it turns out that I am super frugal and now I am in the process of using  up my stuff before I acquire more. Crazy idea, huh?

But I missed my paper blog. Maybe it fills a need to create, maybe the process is therapeutic for me, maybe I just really like doing it for no good reason!  So after a little hiatus (ahem, it looks like my last post was 2 years ago) I AM BACK!  I will be posting my paperish and other projects on this blog.

So while this blog is called "Paper Crafting Princess" don't be surprised if I put up pictures of the tile back splash I DID MYSELF or the new and improved banister my dad and husband installed.  Let's focus on the "Crafting" part of the title.  There may be paper involved. . .but there might not, I'm just warning you ahead of time so you won't feel disappointed.

No projects to post today.  I am working on something, but. . . .

In the meantime, you can gaze upon the home of my childhood for fun.

A little heart in your love

Yes, it's been a while since I've posted, thanks to Alida for the encouragement!

Here is the big project. . .. .

I saw something like this from BH&Gs:  http://www.bhg.com/holidays/valentines-day/decorating/hand-crafted-valentines-day-decor/#page=2 It's on the page with the Valentine banner - but it wasn't the banner that caught my eye, it was the sign that said "LOVE"

and I REALLY wanted to have some Valentine cheer at our house so I decided to make this sign:

It was REALLY easy!  You could use a canvas if you wanted to but this is just and old fashioned piece of board 1x8 or 1x10 or something.  I spray painted the board white, then cut letters with my Wishblade.  The font for the "L, V, and E" is called "Cooper Black" and the heart is a "Y" in the "Webdings" font.

The shape of the letters are so simple you could print them out and cut around them with scissors on colored cardstock (patterned paper would be really cute, too) You wouldn't have to use a electronic cutter if you don't have one or don't want to.

I hope you like my sign.  I was fun to do and the best part was the reaction from my kids when the saw it.  You would have thought my 3 year old little boy had never seen a heart before "Oh a HEART!" he said very enthusiastically.

Happy Valentines!

p.s. while I was writing this post I totally lost track of how many almond valentine kisses I ate. . . blast!
p.p.s. Maybe my next post should be a healthy valentine recipe. .. is there such a thing?  ;-)
p.p.p.s. special thanks to Ryan for providing the beautiful flowers, and special thanks to the 3 year for being naughty so Ryan would bring me flowers.

Autumn Blessings Blog Hop

WELCOME to the Autumn Blessings Blog Hop. It goes along with the Autumn Blessings Crop at CardSwaps. The crop is from November 16-19, 2011 and you have until November 22, 2011 to get your projects posted to the challenge threads and in the drawings for prizes.  Hop the blogs first THEN go see what the challenges and games are, you won't regret it.  At the end of the Blog Hop, you'll find a link to the CardSwaps board. We hope to see you there!

You should have arived here from Ana's blog. If not, you should consider starting starting the hop from the beginning, which is Lora's blog

Lately I've been thinking about how blessed I am.  Especially the blessing to be married to my husband.  It is pretty remarkable that someone would choose to spend their life with another person and I am so grateful that my husband has made this choice.  Not to say that is has always been bliss, we have had our ups and our downs.  We've struggled through college together, been super, SUPER broke together, and lost loved ones together.  On the up side, we've had 3 beautiful children together and thankfully, we are not broke anymore.  My husband has a good job and I have the privilege of staying home with our children.  My biggest blessings have come in large part because of my husband and a very loving Father in Heaven. I am truly blessed!  And I am reminded of that every year during the holidays.  I LOVE this time of year, my whole being is just filled with the spirit of gratitude and I see my life in a new and better light.

This is why I chose my project, I wanted to remember to "Count my Blessings."  It's a board about 6x15 inches.  I painted it red, then yellow, then red again (I didn't know what I wanted when I started), then smeared some brown over the top to make it looked a little distressed -and the red was too bright on its own.  I chose colors and papers that were fall-ish yet still generic enough I can leave my sign up all year if I choose.  If you know me, you know I love red, and it's never out of season at my house.

You could take the same idea and cut your words out smaller and put them on a card.  I think it would make a nice card.

Now go "count your blessings" while you hop through this fabulous blog hop.  Angelina is next.

Hope for Japan

This is a BRAND NEW Fundraiser.  For $5 you can purchase the "Hope for Japan" stamp set and the ENTIRE $5 will be donated to the RED CROSS to help the earthquake and tsunami survivors in Japan.

I've been thinking a lot about the people whose lives have been affected there - as I am sure you have, too.  This is a great way to  help them - no one is making a profit and ALL OF THE MONEY will go to the RED CROSS.

Menu Planning

I've been working really hard to create healthy menus for my family and to organize them to make the whole planning meals process quick and easy.

So now that I've put all on my menu ideas together I'll need a place to store them. I used a template for library pockets and made one slot to hold menus for each weekday (plus one extra).  I'm almost done making it so you'll have to check back soon to see the pictures of my finished project.

Want a sneak peak? I used this paper packet: Cherry-O
I thought it was appropriate for a kitchen.

Check back soon! And then let me know what you think of my final project.
